As we approach the end of lockdown and start cautiously towards the new ‘normal’ way of life, here at Team Feline we are looking forward to seeing all of our furry friends once again.
In order to provide a safe working environment for our sitters, as well as our clients and their cats, we will be implementing some new health and safety protocols, in line with government guidance and WHO guidelines.
Once lockdown eases, we anticipate being allowed to meet with people from other households, whilst maintaining a safe social distance of 2 metres. This will permit us to collect keys, at a pre-arranged time, for clients who do not already have a key on file.
As our visits are conducted in the absence of the owners, we do not have the risk of direct contact with people. We will however, be adopting enhanced hygiene procedures as follows, when entering client homes and caring for cats:
*Hand sanitizer will be used prior to unlocking the door and entering the home, and again after leaving and locking the house.
*Sitters will wash their hands with soap after entering and before touching client cats, as the strong smell of hand sanitizer can be very off-putting to cats, with their extra sensitive sense of smell!
*Cats will be petted and played with as normal, unless you prefer us not to have direct physical contact with your cat. If this is the case, please let us know when booking.
*Sitters will carry out their usual duties, including feeding, refreshing water bowls, cleaning out litter trays and giving medication as required.
*Sitters will endeavor to limit touching of unecessary surfaces and wipe down any surfaces touched, with a disinfectant wipe, once they have completed their cat duties.
*Sitters will be provided with face masks, please let us know if you would like them to be worn in your home. Some cats can be nervous of face coverings, which can cause anxiety and stress.
*Upon leaving, sitters will wipe down the door handle with a disinfectant wipe.
If you have any concerns or queries, or wish to discuss our new procedures in more detail, please get in touch with your local branch.
